Big Sky Nature: Rare Flying Trout Spotted on Hauser Lake

Partygoers at Lakeside, a rural stronghold on Hauser Lake, were treated to a rare spectacle of nature on Sunday night. As the sun dropped, a unique Flying Trout flopped through the cool spring air, just 30 feet above the water along the “beach”.

Most incredibly, the Flying Trout carried a full-grown Bald Eagle on its back, demonstrating the raw power of this atypical fish.

A middle-aged man wearing a tank top and camouflage crocs was heard to exclaim, “My god I’ve always wanted to see a Flying Trout, I seen it on the YouTube!”

After a call to the Fish & Wildlife PLUS Hotline, cryptozoologist Dr. Harry Trapper arrived to document the sighting. Sure enough, through a tripod-mounted 3-foot binocular, he was able to spot the trout, which had found a rest stop on the opposite side of the lake, still offering company to his large, feathered friend.

“You’d be amazed at the range of wildlife we observe in Montana,” the khaki-bound official reported. “The only thing more inspiring to see in the Big Sky than a rainbow is a Rainbow Trout. And carrying a Bald Eagle? All you can say is, ‘God Bless America.'”
